Raed is an MS mechanical engineering student at KAUST with a research focus on the design and dynamics of MEMS. He is a Qimam fellow which is a fellowship that identifies the best students across Saudi and extremely competitive. Previously, Raed completed internships at Tokai University in Japan, where he worked on solar car designs, solar cells, and electric systems; and Saudi Railway Company (SAR), where he worked with a group of engineers in a diverse set of projects at Rolling Stock Management & Maintenance department (RSM). He was also a volunteer event organizer at the MiSK Foundation event ‘Saudi Codes’ in Medina. Raed is passionate about disseminating knowledge to other people and consequently established an educational YouTube channel when he was 14 years old to post educational videos in Arabic. Over the past eight years, he has grown his subscriber base to over 70,000, and his videos have garnered more than 12 million views. Raed sees this project as a unique opportunity to implement his engineering skills to help people with motor disabilities.
